My image that I selected for my senior picture represents me. Me as a person because I want to grow up as a nurse and go to Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. By doing this I will strive to keep my dream of being a nurse and I will also try my hardest in school to make the grades to get into OSU. If I continue to get good grades I can maybe earn a scholarship for my Nursing Degree there. While attending OSU I would like to be apart of their drum line in their marching band. Alongside with y dreams of being a nurse and a musician, I want to be a strong and independent woman. Through out the book of Girl With A Pearl Earring we learn about a young girl named Griet, who's father loses his sight in an accident, and she as a young girl has to take on the job of the "supporter of the home". " You are to start tomorrow as their maid. If you do well, you will be paid eight stuivers a day. You will live with them." " I pressed my lips together." " Dont look at me the way Griet, my mother said." " We have to now your father has lost his trade." (Chevalier,6) This quotes basically defines Griet as a human and how she has to be responsible to make the money for her family to even survive. I feel like this connects to me, because in order to survive on my own comfortably I need to go to college and get a good education to keep myself alive. "I was meant to pick it up. That was what maids were meant to do- pick up their master's and mistress's things and put them back into place. I looked up and met his eye, holding his grey gaze for a long moment. I knew it was for the last time. I did not look at anyone else. In his eyes I thought I could see regret. I did not pick up the knife. I turned and walked from the room, down the stairs and through the doorway, pushing aside Tanneke." (Chevalier, 215) For me this quote shows independence and courage of Griet. It shows she finally realizes, I am a strong woman, and I know what's best for me. This also shows that she can be independent and stop being known as just "some maid" All together this book ties into what I see myself in my senior year of high school.

I think this photo of you is phenomenal and I love that you represent the school you hope to go to. That you WILL go to, if you choose. I think you are an inspiration to many girls in our grade, because you have beauty, brains, and talent. I love the symbolism. Your goal of becoming an independent woman is truly inspiring, and I love how focused and ambitious you are! Never give up!
ReplyDeleteThis picture Alicia is FLAWLESS! I like how you wore your Ohio state sweat shirt to show you want to go to Ohio state university. I really like how you are smiling to symbolize that you want to be happy with the rest of your life. Good job girlie!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I just want to say you look so beautiful! I really enjoyed reading your post. I think it's cool you know what you want to do after high school. Your symbolism in this picture is very well represented. I think this picture and your paragraph go together very well.
